Shocker- Stephen Colbert has never seen “Shawshank”. Never. Clancy Brown is a talented actor and he is such an amazing voiceactor also. Do you remember the name of that town Clevland: Crap. Having been to prison myself, here"s my thoughts on the fat guy. One, I firmly believe he was either a case of mistaken identity through a lineup, or he unwittingly took the fall for someone else, got framed, etc. based on his insistence that there was a mistake, he"s not supposed to be there, not me, etc. I mean sure Red had the running joke with everybody that they were all innocent, but you get the feeling with the fat guy that he legit got railroaded in some form. In my experience it"s extremely rare that such a spineless blubbering amoeba would go out and commit crimes in the first place - someone like that would just be too scared of getting caught. Two, Hadley almost did him a favor here. If he had lived through that beating and not been crippled, his experience in prison would have been a nightmare. He would probably be targeted by the Sisters and further, because he probably wouldn"t even stand up for himself like Andy did, he would be extorted. Whatever money he had on his books, he would be made to pay rent. And if it wasn"t enough, well, his family had better cough it up. Long story short is his existence would have been so fucking miserable that he would kill himself. Or, he would be dumb enough to snitch on the people giving him a hard time and he would be killed.

The Shawshank Redemption 2: Weekend in Mexico. You remember the name of the town in mexico, right. CRAP. The Shawshank Redemption is for me one of the best movies ever made. The acting is crisp and full of endless tension, sometimes forlorn and on other occasions full of fear. How Stephen King could come up with a horror story like this is beyond me. It"s a real nightmare to be in a penal system with so many things going against you.
Stephen King has been known for writing stories that have both confused and amused the readers. You should really just rent the movie, sit down, and enjoy this 2 hour long movie.
In the end, though, while the film is indeed admirable from a technical standpoint, it is the emotional impact that has made it a favourite of so many. Naturally, emotional responses will vary from person to person but this film seems to hit the mark more than any other. Do yourself a favour and check it out.

I just love this scene so much. Hadley supposedly starting “sobbing like a little girl” when he was being arrested and at the start of the movie he beat a prisoner to death for crying. He just knew the same hell he put his prisoners through was waiting for him and same with the warden and thats why he killed himself. How and why Morgan Freeman has not won a Oscar still shocks me. One of the best actors ever. I have figured this is how universe is in general. When you want something badly you dont always get it. The moment you have done your work and stop giving shit about the results or outcome anymore. universe starts to give you what you wanted originally. I have figured in life, its best to work hard at your goals, and work so hard that at one point you dont even give a shit about whether you`ll make it or not. thats when I have observed Life starts giving you or gifting you what you originally wanted.
Try Casablanca first... I still say that they should have had those men who were dead be men who were alive and we"re just traitorous to Gondor. it kind of takes away from the movie to have them be ghosts. everything would have been the same it just that they would have been alive and came to help from the south. in addition their numbers would have helped outside the Gate of Mordor. I just thought it was cutting Corners to have them be ghost, and then outside the Gate of Mordor to have the entire Army of Sauron just disappear and go into the ground when the ring was destroyed. It should have just been one big battle.

How pathetic; the way the ring was destroyed. The people who had the oilphauts could have easily won the battle if they did the right strategy and change how they brought the oilphaunts bye shooting the arrows into the oilphaunts heads and even cutting the legs of a oilphaunts…… if the people who them oilpaunts, all they needed to do is just basially a helmet on the oilphaunts and it doesn"t have to be heavy. it could be a very light and not cover the animals eyes so they can see. also they could some kind protection on the the legs. it would be very hard to stop them and you know need a lot of archers on the animals. maybe like see one of the oilphaunts have spikes tied on from on 1 tusk to another. if they put on all the oilphaunts. they could wipe out more of the army. then instead putting all the oilphaunts side by side. they sould make 2 lines, one line in the front and the other line in the back. so you order your first line to go and the second line to behind but 100 yards back from the front line. the first line would killed so many people bt they cant get all of them that"s why you have a second line can easily killed the soldiers who didn"t ran over. but before u do all that, they should had the archers spilt up into groups that could east and west on the army. while there getting ready to attack the oilphaunts. that"s when you starting shooting arrows on them... … they done that strategy. they would slaughter the whole arny...
Many folk rate Shawshank Redemption as one of the best films they have ever seen. I"m not so impressed. Firstly, I agree that the absence of special effects is a boon in any 1990s film. Secondly, Freeman and Robbins act well and are well-directed. The storyline, though, lacks subtlety (not in the telling - this is a very well directed film - but as a story) and Dufesne comes over as a kind of everything-he-touches, incarcerated upper-middle class Forrest Gump. The film is suffused with a kind of Manichean morality which tips over too readily into sentimentality (again, despite the best efforts of Freeman and Robbins) and which, ultimately, I found cloying.
Perhaps, though, I"m being too harsh. Is it just that the film is a lot better than the story from which it is taken? Rita Hayworth: eat your heart out.
